Cruise of the Lanikai, Incitement to War by Kemp Tolley

Rear Admiral Kemp Tolley recounts his adventures upon the schooner-rigged diesel powered yacht Lanikai in December 1941 to March 1942 when he was on a secret “defensive information patrol” assignment to report on the Japanese Fleet between the Philippines and Java in the South China Sea and the Makassar Strait. Tolley served in the U.S. Navy upon his 1929 graduation from the United States Naval Academy until his retirement in 1959 when he was commander of fleet activities at the Yokosuka, Japan.
