Images of World War II: The Art of Jack Smith by Jack Smith with Rona Simmons (Softcover)
Jack Smith is a member of what is now referred to as The Greatest Generation. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hopping in the Pacific. The war was not the place or time to practice drawing or painting, yet his interest in art never flagged. After returning home, he studied art and later became a successful commercial artist. His unique brush and ink “line painting” include portraits of people and places around him, but mostly scenes of WWII as reproduced in this book and inspired by photographs from the front.
